Igneous rocks and primary minerals are formed by the cooling of magma. When the cooling process happens crystals grow from the chemicals in the magma. The determination of which crystals are formed is from the different pressure, heat, space and time of the area. For the crystals to form the magma must remain underground and cool slowly so the crystals have time to develop, if the lava erupts or cools rapidly then volcanic rocks will form.
Examples of igneous rocks are – Agates, Amethyst, Apophyllite, Aquamarine, Moonstone, Rock Crystal.
Sedimentary rocks are formed from rock fragments which have sunk to the bottom of body’s of water, usually the sea. Overtime the rocks get squashed and buried, these then, over time, get stuck to each other to form a rock. This happens due to water and the chemicals in the water getting trapped in the sediment and holding them together.
Sedimentary rocks are formed by external influences, we are also formed by experiences from our past.
Examples of sedimentary rocks are – Azurite-Malachite, Chrysophrase, Rhodochrosite, Moss agate, Mookite, Malachite.
Metamorphic rocks are formed when either one of the following happen –
Thermal reaction – rocks close to the magma start to partially melt, this will change their properties which causes re-crystallisation fusing the rock and new concentrates of chemical reactions.
Dynamic rocks are formed when they are subject to pressure deep underground, so much so that the original features of the crystal is destroyed.
These rocks can teach us that nothing stays the same and we should invite new ideas and let go of old one’s that no longer have a use in our lives.
Examples of Metamorphic rocks are – Charoite, Diamond, Kyanite, Garnet, Jade, Lapis Lazuli, Rhodonite, Tigers eye.
